OOCL Suspend Bookings to Australia

We have reported about the significant delays caused by industrial action to ports in Australia and we have also advised of the significant impact the delays in Australia are having on the return voyages to Asia.

Vessels are trapped on the Australian coastline creating significant gaps in schedules at Origin ports. The services operated by OOCL from South East Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam) and Europe have been severely impacted and coupled with surging imports to Australia have a reported back log of around 2500 TEU in Singapore.  This is also effecting the China to West Coast Australia service.

As a result OOCL has released this advisory (OOCL - Customer Advisory Suspension of Southbound Booking Acceptance) that they have suspended taking any new  bookings on their AAA/ASA service from week 40 through to week 42.

The scheduling issues on these services is also impacting on Export shipments and our export department will talk with you as to the impact on your shipments.

The advice from OOCL may change and we will update over the coming weeks.  Other services continue to take bookings but are also suffering from backlog caused through vessel scheduling that will result in delays originating from South East Asia.
