Typhoon Kompasu is approaching South China. Currently the Hong Kong Observatory has issued a The Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 which will remain in force this morning and early this afternoon.
The Observatory have said “As Kompasu gradually edges closer to the coast of Guangdong and intensifies, its outer rainbands will bring squally showers to Hong Kong tonight. Local winds are also expected to strengthen further. The Observatory will consider issuing the Gale or Storm Signal, No. 8 later this afternoon”.
Kompasu will have impact on port operations in Hong Kong and Shenzhen. Shenzhen terminals suspended gate in and gate out as of 0300 hours today ( 12 October 2021). Unfortunately this may result in containers unable to meet vessel cut offs resulting in delays and some carriers may implement port omissions.
Our export desks in China and customer service teams in Australia and New Zealand will work with all parties for the best outcomes. Vessel delays will be updated through your shipment reports.
